The role
We are hiring an Email Marketing Strategist who can own the Email + SMS vertical inside the agency - not just “implement.” You will be the technical expert in Klaviyo and email marketing, responsible for building campaign calendars, executing campaigns and flows correctly, and proactively optimizing when performance is off track.  
This role exists because we need someone who can operate with high autonomy and high attention to detail - someone who catches issues early, solves problems, and communicates clearly across the team.
Responsibilities
1) Strategy + planning (ownership)
- Build and manage monthly email (and SMS, when applicable) calendars for assigned clients
- Align promotions, product priorities, and content themes with the Growth Strategist’s roadmap
- Monitor performance and proactively recommend pivots when the plan is not working (topics, offers, segmentation, cadence, creative approach) 
2) Campaign execution (done right the first time)
- Build, QA, and deploy email campaigns in Klaviyo (typically 3 per week per client, but varies by client needs)
- Ensure proper setup every time (links, UTM discipline, alt text, correct image handling, correct templates, correct segments) 
- Coordinate with designers and copy to ensure assets are correct, complete, and on time
3) Flow ownership (technical depth)
- Build, iterate, and optimize core flows (welcome, abandoned cart, browse abandon, post-purchase, winback, replenishment, etc.)
- Apply the right logic, delays, exclusions, and criteria - and be able to clearly explain “why this setup”
- Ongoing flow QA and performance improvements (content tests, conditional splits, segmentation refinement)
4) Deliverability + list health
- Own deliverability best practices (list growth hygiene, engagement management, suppression strategy, compliance)
- Run required deliverability checks when onboarding new clients (including spam testing) 
- Monitor key signals (open/click trends, bounce, complaint rate) and take action early
5) QA that saves everyone time
- Your work should require minimal rework downstream - QA should be fast because the build quality is high
- Maintain clean internal checklists so errors do not repeat 
6) Reporting + communication
- Provide clear weekly performance notes tied to revenue, RPR, LTV, and key tests
- Surface issues early (do not wait until end of month to identify mistakes or underperformance) 
- Communicate clearly in ClickUp and collaborate tightly with Strategy, Ops, and Creative 
Requirements (must-haves)
- Strong hands-on experience in Klaviyo (campaigns + flows) with a proven ability to execute without supervision
- Demonstrated technical competence (segmentation, logic, QA discipline, deliverability fundamentals)
- Ability to build calendars and think strategically (not just “build what you’re told”)
- Proactive problem-solver - you flag issues, propose solutions, and move quickly 
- Strong communication with cross-functional teams (especially designers) 
- High attention to detail - links, images, tracking, segments, and setup are correct every time 
Nice-to-haves
- Experience with SMS strategy (Klaviyo SMS or similar)
- Experience in DTC eCommerce across multiple categories
- Basic copy instincts (you don’t need to be the lead copywriter, but you know what “good” looks like)
- Familiarity with ClickUp and agency workflows
What success looks like (Scorecard)
First 30 days
- Own execution for 1-2 clients with clean QA and on-time delivery
- Demonstrate deliverability and onboarding competence (including spam tests on new clients) 
By 60 days
- Independently manage calendars + execution for a larger client set
- Proactively surface performance issues mid-month and recommend changes 
By 90 days
- Fully “owns the email vertical” for assigned accounts - minimal oversight required
- Contributes test ideas and strategic improvements consistently
